Summary

Congratulations! You have completed the course "Writing Reports and Proposals."

In this course, we started by exploring four stages of report writing – investigating, planning, writing, and revising – and you practiced writing at each stage. Then we looked at formatting reports by using headings, and adding clarity by adding charts and graphs. We discussed the ten steps of proposal writing, and you practiced drafting a proposal for a coffee maker. We discussed when and how to be persuasive in our writing. Next you practiced reviewing your writing by completing the revising checklist from session 4. Finally, we discussed the correct ways of citing sources and creating a bibliography.

A writer is a person for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.

— Thomas Mann

This report, by its very length, defends itself against the risk of being read.

— Winston Churchill
