Essentially, the succession plan will focus on the critical employees that lead the organization. This would naturally include the CEO, as well as anyone in the next level of management (in this example, vice-presidents and a director for fund development). Other organizations will also include titles such as COO (Chief Operations Officer), CFO (Chief Financial Officer), CIO (Chief Information Officer), and so on.
