Look around where you are and identify, through observation, areas that could house potential safety issues (if you do not see actual health and safety issues, use your imagination). List the potential safety concerns under the following headings:
Biological
- Molds, fungi, insects, viruses, bacteria including colds and flu
Chemical
- Chemical and gas leaks/exposure
- Cleaners
- Vapors or fumes
- Ventilation concerns
Physical (noise, heat, radiation)
- Unsafe storage of equipment
- Improper use of ladder or other equipment
- Poor housekeeping
- Waste management issues
- Flammable materials
- Wearing of personal protective equipment
- Obstructed walkways
- Liquid spills
- Slippery floors
- Frayed wires and other electrical hazards
Ergonomic
- Repetitive motion injury
- Sprains and strains
- Improper lifting technique
Psycho-social
- Bullying
- Workplace violence
- Sexual harassment
