Congratulations! You have completed the course "Workplace Health and Safety: The Supervisor's Role and Responsibilities."

In this course, we talked about the main health and safety responsibilities of supervisors.

First, we learned about due diligence from the employer and worker perspective and the importance of the Health and Safety Policy Statement to show companywide commitment to Health and Safety.

Next, we learned about the workers right to know, right to participate and right to refuse work they believe is unsafe.

Then, you looked at the general responsibilities for Health and Safety for supervisors and workers and researched the specific responsibilities in your own jurisdiction.

Next you looked at the responsibilities and functions of Health and Safety Committees and researched local requirements for your jurisdiction. As well the functioning of HSC Co-chairs and suggestions for holding HSC meetings were addressed.

Then, you determined what Health and Safety issues are observable and what the role of the supervisor and worker with observing health and safety issues. You then looked at the importance of Health and Safety Inspections and received practical exposure to 6S- one of the most popular health and safety inspection tools. Safety Audits were also introduced.

Next, you explored employee competence through orientation and training events. You also developed a list of training methods that can be used in Health and Safety.

Then, you researched accident reporting procedures and explored accident investigations so that you can be of assistance to health and safety investigation personnel.

Finally, you developed a list of communication tools that can be used to communicate health and safety information and created a right-to-know information station.
