The energy used by one worker to complain, if it had been expended on a job, would have produced an incredible amount of work. There was always something wrong with everything this person was asked to do: the job was too long or too brief, they didn’t believe in the policy, or it was a lot of work for nothing. The worker with whom they shared an office had to listen to constant criticism of the company.
